Skyhunter Book Review

The novel, Skyhunter, written by Marie Lu, is an extraordinary book. This novel follows the story of Talin, a Striker for Mara, the last unconfined nation while she fights to protect Mara from the Karensa Federation. A federation that establishes ghosts by using humans and changing the way they appeal and behave. When a prisoner of war, known as Red, is captured, soon Talin saves him and they become a Striker and Shield. With the following characters, Jeranand Adena, they join hands to fight in hopes to keep Mara alive, and free. 

Each character adds complexity to the plot, as they each have their own distinct traits, and motives. The protagonist Talin, is highly intelligent as well as a loyal and brave fighter. After escaping her home, Basea, she was deprived of her voice to poisonous gas and uses sign language as a result. Although she is one of the highest ranking Strikers she is treated as an outcast for no valid reason. Despite all the hardships she has and is facing, she hardly ever complains. Red, another vital character to the story, who is a skyhunter. His backstory adds depth to the horror of the Karensa Federation. Lastly, Adena and Jeran. As Adena is very intelligent and ends up discovering a way to prevent the ghost from attacking the humans.While Jeran is very loyal and is kind hearted. The four of them make an excellent team as they fight against the Karensa Federation, in hopes of a brighter future.
