Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Association of School Business Officials (KASBO) announces the election of Susan Barkley as President-elect of the state association for the 2024-25 term. These esteemed professionals in school finance bring a wealth of experience and dedication to the association, furthering KASBO’s mission to promote excellence in school business management.

Susan began her career as an auditor with a regional public accounting firm in West Virginia. After becoming a certified public accountant, she served more than 17 years as a state administrator in public school finance with the West Virginia and Kentucky Departments of Education. In December 2014, Susan joined Shelby County Public Schools in Shelbyville, Kentucky. As the Chief Financial Officer, she oversees finance, human resources, and food service operations.

As President-elect, Susan will exercise all the functions of the President in her absence and serve as chair of the Professional Development Committee as well as provide policy and budgetary guidance for the activities of the association. KASBO’s Board of Directors serves as the governing board of the association and assists in implementation of the strategic plan to ensure successful outcomes of the goals and objectives.

“It is an honor to serve the KASBO membership as President-elect,” said Ms. Barkley. “KASBO is a family of professionals who support each other for the betterment of Kentucky public education. Most of what I know about school district financial operations, I learned through KASBO and its members.”

Other KASBO officers for 2024-25 include: Eydie Tate, President, Hopkins County Schools and John David Sandefur, Vice President, Owensboro Public Schools.
