The Guidance Department helps students overcome problems that impede learning and assists them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women.
Guidance Counselors:
Provide personal-social, educational, and career and vocational counseling;
Gather and interpret student information for academic testing, and health and immunization records;
Provide orientation and registration services to all students;
Maintain all student cumulative records, including grade reports, class ranking, and grade point averages;
Chair SBARC meeting and work with special instructional staff;
Assist students with college, work and scholarship applications, College Night, KVHS classes, and JCC liason;
Work with testing program (ACT/SAT, PLAN, PSAT, ASVAB, and CATS)
Coordinate Senior Awards Night and assist with Graduation activities;
Coordinate IGP’s and Senior Transition;
Coordinate Governor’s Scholars/Governors School for Arts;
Coordinate Foreign Exchange students;
Make referrals to outside agencies;
Work cooperatively with teachers, parents, and administrators to address the needs of all students.
